Organized Training programme on Entrepreneurship development among women through horticulture and fruit processing

ICAR- CISH, Lucknow organized three days training programme on entrepreneurship development for women through horticulture and fruit processing during September 20-22 2023. Twenty five women including two representatives from Farrukhabad district of Uttar Pradesh participated in the training. At the outset of programme, Dr. T. Damodaran, Director underlined the importance of horticulture and fruit processing and scope of quality product and improved packaging of the products to enhance income of women. He also advised women to work in Self help Groups mode for better visibility, sell their produce with brand name. For value added and processed products, they should try to obtain FSSAI certificate for capturing market. These aspects will help to enhance the income and livelihood of farm women. During the training programme, lectures pertaining to establishment of good nursery, production technology, important varieties of guava and mango and its cultivation methods, Entrepreneurship development through vegetable production technologies, importance of soil health and water management in fruit production and processing, principles and activities of natural farming, organic fruit production, high density planting, container gardening of fruit crops, scientific cultivation of bael and aonla, important insect pest and diseases of fruits and vegetables and their integrated management, entrepreneurship development through processing and value addition of fruits and vegetables, harvesting methods etc. were given by the scientific faculties of the institute along with laboratory visits. Hands on training on preparation of value added products of mango, preparation of grafted plants of mango, management of nursery and mother blocks, organic farming were given to the farm women during field visit. This training was sponsored by Maa Bhagvatee Seva Sansthan, Lucknow U.P. Dr. Naresh Babu, Principal Scientist, Dr. Abha Singh, Principal Scientist and Dr. S.K. Singh, Sr. Scientist coordinated the programme.
